Sweden defeats Canada to win gold in women’s curling

Sweden successfully defended its gold-medal performance of four years ago by defeating Canada, 7-6, in the women’s curling final Friday night at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Anette Norberg nailed the last shot to give her team the victory in an extra 11th end, defeating Cheryl Bernard’s Canadian foursome before a sellout crowd of 5,600.

Sweden trailed, 6-4, before scoring two in the final regulation end to send the match into overtime.
