It is the first time an American has won medals in consecutive Olympics in the men's 1,500 meters.Havard Bokko of Norway took the bronze in 1:46.13.
Chad Hedrick of the U.S. finished sixth with a time of 1:46.69. Hedrick won the only World Cup 1,500-meter race of the 2009-10 season that Davis did not.
