Flyers' Carter put on alert in case Ducks' Getzlaf can't play

Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf's sprained left ankle seems to be healing rapidly, but Team Canada has notified Flyers center Jeff Carter to be prepared to travel to Vancouver on Sunday in case Getzlaf isn't able to play in the Olympic hockey tournament.

Fabforum Getzlaf injured his ankle Monday. An MRI found no significant ligament or muscle tears and he said Wednesday he's hopeful of playing this weekend.

The Ducks play at Calgary on Saturday and at Edmonton on Sunday.

However, just to be safe, Team Canada notified Carter to be on standby and be ready to play.

The Flyers play at Montreal on Saturday.

Rosters must be submitted by Monday night, before the tournament starts.
