No Americans qualify for the finals of large hill ski jumping

Peter Frenette (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) placed 32nd, just missing the finals in the large hill ski jumping event Saturday.

A tie for the 30th and final position with a score of 95.6 put 31 into the final.

Frenette received a 90.6 to fall below the cutoff. Nick Alexander (Lebanon, N.H.) was 40th with a score of 79.2.

Simon Ammann of Switzerland won the first round with a score of 144.7.

You are so selfish americans , Ski Jumping !!!! one of the most popular and spectaular competition during Winter Olimpics Games !!! and You are posing only one short article about that , but only about your poor competitors wich was jumping today instead of showing to your nation who is the champion , why are you so selfish US people your country is not the most important in the world only , just learn geography and history of the whole world , because mostly people from US don't know even where is the Switzerland, Albania, or Angora, shame on YOU US.I wrote this letter everywhere even to the Olimpics management to blame LA Times for selfish posting and geocentralism.

You probably mean "Andorra" instead of "Angora" I assume? Mostly because Angola is not competing in the Winter Olympics. The vast majority of the world's population couldn't give a rat's ass about the Winter Olympics. It's crap. There is no real sports competition at either of the Olympics, whether Winter or Summer. It's all about how much money a country can throw at their athletes, and obviously the developed world can throw lots of it. I always root for the poorest countries to win. And as an American, I know where all of those countries are, as well as non-Euro centric countries. I can even spell their names correctly.
