U.S. skier Hannah Kearney upset Canadian Jenn Heil to win the gold medal in the women’s moguls competition Saturday night. It was the first gold of the Vancouver Winter Olympics for America.

Shannon Bahrke of the U.S. took the bronze medal.

Kearney, who was the top qualifier, scored 26.63 points in the final to defeat Heil by the wide margin of .94 points. Heil was trying to become the first Canadian to win gold on their home turf.
