USA Hockey and Ducks team up this weekend

With the Vancouver Olympics only two weeks away, the Ducks for the next three days will participate in local events to celebrate USA Hockey’s annual Hockey Weekend Across America.

On Friday, children are encouraged to wear their favorite hockey or NHL jersey to school.

On Saturday, anyone bringing a friend to the rink or donating a piece of hockey equipment will get a free skating lesson and a ticket to the Feb. 8 game against the Kings. The participating rinks: Anaheim ICE from 9:20-10:20 a.m., Huntington Beach Inline from 1-2 p.m., and Corona Inline from 6-7 p.m. But only 100 Ducks tickets will be available per location. The donated equipment will be used for the Ducks “Learn to Skate” program.

The final event is ‘Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes Day.’ The Ducks have asked for nominations, and the winner will be selected on Sunday. For more information go to ducks.nhl.com.
