Allyson Felix named sportswoman of the year by local sports council

Felix Olympic sprinter and Los Angeles native Allyson Felix was named the 2009 sportswoman of the year by the Los Angeles Sports Council today.

Felix, who became the first woman to win three consecutive 200-meter world titles at the 2009 IAAF World Championships in August, will be formally honored during the L.A. Sports Awards on Feb. 18 at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live.

The three-time Olympic medalist also won the award in 2007.
