Defenseman Angela Ruggiero of Simi Valley was nominated to her fourth Olympic team Thursday, when USA Hockey announced the roster for the upcoming Vancouver Winter Games.

Ruggiero shares that distinction with Jenny Potter, formerly Jenny Schmidgall.

Two final cuts were made, though the news release announcing the final 21-player roster never mentions that defenseman Rachael Drazan and forward Angie Keseley didn’t make it.

The U.S. women’s team won the gold medal in the Olympic debut of women’s hockey at Nagano in 1998, silver at Salt Lake City in 2002 and bronze in 2006 at Turin. This team is coached by Mark Johnson, a member of the triumphant 1980 U.S. men’s team at Lake Placid and more recently coach of the women’s team at the University of Wisconsin.
