Day in the life of Rachael Flatt. Whew.

Rachael Flatt, the 16-year-old figure skater from Del Mar who will be one of two women representing the United States at the World Figure Skating championships March 22-29 at Staples Center, is a full-time high school student as well as a full-time athlete who trains in Colorado Springs. She attends Cheyenne Mountain High School and here is the class schedule Flatt detailed when she spoke on a conference call Wednesday:

Advanced Placement English; Honors Pre-Calculus II, Advanced Placement Biology, Advanced Placement Chemistry, French IV. Asked if she was a straight-A student, Flatt had a simple answer: ‘Yep, straight-A student.’

And she said her day goes something like this.

‘Normally every morning I get up at quarter to five or five, I eat breakfast, head to the rink. I’m there from 6 to 7:15 then I run off to school. I’m at school until 12:30 then I come back to the rink. I eat lunch in the car and do a little bit of homework. I start practice at 1:15. Sometimes I have ballet, two times a week. From 1:15 until 2 I practice or do ballet, then homework, then sometimes a stretch class from 2 until 2:30. From 3:05 until 4:45 I skate. Wednesdays I have a power class at 5:30 to 6 or Tuesday and Thursdays I go to the Olympic Training Center and work out from 5:30 until 8. I have dinner there too and recovery. I fit in homework in there.’

Oh, and she also finds time to watch ‘The Office’ on Thursday. ‘I love that show,’ she said.
