U.S. vs. Serbia: Volleyball update

August 20, 2008 |  9:01 am

Clayton Stanley tries to spike the ball past Serbia's front line.

BEIJING -- Lloy Ball served on set point, William Priddy spiked the ball down and the U.S. tied its quarterfinal match with Serbia by winning the second set 25-23.

They have cheerleaders here, something I never saw at gymnastics (unless it counts that Chinese gymnasts maybe can aspire to becoming volleyball cheerleaders).

And it was a good start to the third set for the U.S., which went up 4-0 and forced Serbia to call a timeout.
