BEIJING -- Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh had not lost a set in beach volleyball through these Olympic Games and were not about to start when it counted the most.

On Thursday morning, amid a steady rain, they won the gold medal with a 21-18, 21-18 victory over China's Tian Jia and Wang Jie. It was the second straight Olympic gold for the California pair.

is that the right score?

What a great way to represent the US and California! The fact they were matched against a Chinese team (clearly the Chinese are a rising power in beach volleyball) made it all the better. A big YAY to Misty/Kerri and a big BOO to NBC for not showing this live during PRIME TIME on the West Coast.
Now someone needs to convince them to go for three in London!

Congratulations to all the ladies.
