U.S. women’s volleyball team beats Poland

The U.S. Women’s National Indoor Volleyball Team today defeated Poland for the second time in less than five days, 20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-10. The victory brings the U.S. a step closer to qualifying for the final round of the FIVB World Grand Prix, being held in Taipei, Taiwan.

The U.S. team, which overcame a mistake-filled first set, is now 6-1 overall in the World Grand Prix with six consecutive victories. On Saturday, they take on Turkey, and it is scheduled to begin at about midnight, L.A. time, tonight. The one U.S. loss was against Turkey.

Tayyiba Haneef-Park of Laguna Hills led the Americans against Poland with 18 points on 16 kills, one block and one ace. Heather Bown of Yorba Linda had six kills and a block, finishing with seven points.
