Eller wins double trap title; Holguin comes in second

Jeff Holguin in May after winning the bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup USA men's doubles trap final. The men's national title in double trap now belongs to Glenn Eller of Katy, Texas.

Eller, a U.S. Army marksman and two-time Olympian, had a match score of 289, a final of 48 and a total score of 337 today to win the title at the 2008 USA Shooting National Championships for Shotgun.

In second place was Jeff Holguin of Yorba Linda, who is an Army teammate of Eller's. Fellow Army marksmen Josh Richmond of Hillsgrove, Pa., and Bill Keever of Rutherfordton, N.C., claimed the third and fourth spots, respectively.

Holguin, who along with Eller is headed for the Beijing Games, had an overall score of 333 targets, while Richmond, last year’s national champion, had 328 targets. Keever had 322.

The 2008 National Championships for Shotgun conclude Sunday with the men’s and women’s skeet finals.
