No bad hair days at Beijing Games

July 13, 2008 |  1:48 pm

Beijing Games organizers want to make sure that not even a hair is out of place during the upcoming competition. Literally.

On Saturday, the director of the Cultural Activities Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad visited with the group that is overseeing hairstyles and cosmetics for "victory ceremony hostesses" during the upcoming Games.

"The leader is quite satisfied with the group's participation," China Daily reports.

Approved hairstyles for hostesses are supposed to be "compatible with the concept of sports, while still reflecting the spirit of Chinese youth," according to the newspaper. "Although they are required to be simple, the make-up and hair should be distinct enough to look good on TV."

Hair stylists who will be on call during the games "can create even the most complicated of the four designated hair designs in 5-10 minutes," China Daily added.
