Their mayor is a real Nutter

  PHILADELPHIA -- Mayor Michael A. Nutter might want to do cartwheels over the positive impact the U.S. Olympic gymnastics trials have had on his city.

Nutter said the event -- which also includes USA Gymnastics' Congress and a trade show -- will add an estimated $20 million to the coffers of local hotels, restauants, and other businesses.

"But the TV exposure, I think, is quite priceless," he said. "We're very excited about this event. To be seen by more and more people across the country and around the world, with the spotlight on Philadelphia, that's a great thing for us."

Nutter, who was elected to office last November, said he's proud of the welcome provided by residents of the city and the region.

"People are very excited about having this kind of event here. I think it's very reassuring," he said. "Not only are we a big city but more and more people are getting to know us and that's very exciting."
