Bill Dwyre has been a sports columnist at The Times for the last three years. Before that, he was sports editor of the paper for 25 years and before that sports editor of the Milwaukee Journal for eight years. He is a native of Sheboygan, Wis., and a 1966 graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
