Oklahoma State University’s women’s basketball coach, Kurt Budke, assistant coach Miranda Serna and two other people were killed Thursday in a plane crash in Arkansas.

“The Oklahoma State family is devastated by this tragedy,” said OSU President Burns Hargis in a news release Friday morning. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of Kurt Budke, Miranda Serna and the other victims.’

According to OSU, Budke and Serna, coaches of the OSU Cowgirls, were on a recruiting trip to Arkansas when the plane crashed. Two others, including the pilot, died along with the OSU coaches. There were no survivors.

This new tragedy happened just months after the 10-year anniversary of a plane crash that killed 10 people from the OSU men’s basketball program, according to KJRH.com.

In January 2001, a small plane crashed just after takeoff in Colorado, killing two Cowboys players and eight staff members.

Calls to Oklahoma State University were not immediately returned Friday.
