Somewhere, Steve Jobs is laughing.

NPR posted this tribute by editorial cartoonist Dave Fitzsimmons on its Tumblr page. It shows Jobs, dressed in his trademark black mock turtleneck and jeans and a newly minted set of angel’s wings, arriving at the pearly gates -- and getting right back to work.

‘When’s the last time this device was upgraded?’ Jobs asks, holding up an angelic harp that presumably belongs to St. Peter.

The tribute captures the reaction to Wednesday’s news that the Apple co-creator, widely termed one of the world’s greatest visionaries, has died at the age of 56. He suffered from a rare form of pancreatic cancer.

Yes, there has been grief, and flags flying at half-staff at Apple’s Silicon Valley campus as the world mourns, leaving flowers as well apples at Apple stores around the globe. And although the grieving continues, it is quickly giving way to a celebration of Jobs’ work and life. According to his poignant 2005 commencement speech at Stanford University, that’s how he wanted it.

So far, there has been no official word about plans for a memorial service or burial.
