Nicki Minaj in a pink beehive bests Lady Gaga in a meat dress when it comes to Halloween 2011, according to Google’s annual accounting of most-searched Halloween costumes.

Minaj, known for her bright wigs and colorful, body-hugging outfits, tops the list of 12 at No. 4, but she’s beaten by Angry Birds (first), Black Swan (second) and Playboy Bunny (third).

The annual list is something of a sign of the pop-culture times.

Last year’s included ‘Avatar,’ ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Mad Hatter’ and ‘Glee Cheerios’ (the TV show’s cheerleading squad), as well as Kenny Powers (the main character from HBO’s ‘Eastbound and Down’). Gaga led the list in 2009, fell to fifth in 2010 and didn’t appear at all this year.

This year’s list leader, Angry Birds, is homage to the wildly popular video game of the same name. Since it was first released in 2009, more than 12 million copies of the game have been bought from Apple’s App Store -- even earning a Guinness record, as the Los Angeles Times reported in May.

The birds are round, fat and wingless, leaving little doubt that Black Swan (Natalie Portman’s psychologically unbalanced Nina in the 2010 movie of the same name) and Playboy Bunny would arguably be more attractive costume choices.

This year’s top-12 list isn’t as heavy on celebrities as last year’s, which included Gaga, ‘Jersey Shore’s’ Snooki, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. 2011 brings just Minaj and Charlie Sheen (11).

Sheen recently tweeted a picture of himself holding a startlingly realistic silicon ‘Winner’ mask created by Denver artist Landon Meier. But that mask, subject of an equally startling video, will set trick-or-treaters back $2,500.
