Sugarland asks for prayers after deadly stage collapse in Indianapolis

Sugarland members took to Twitter on Saturday night to assure their fans ‘We are all right,’ then shift the focus to victims of a deadly stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis that killed four and sent dozens to area hospitals. ‘We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength,’ said the Tweet issued on the country group’s official Twitter account shortly after the stage collapsed, creating chaos as some audience members tried to flee to safety and others rushed the stage to look for loved ones.
It’s believed that the weather, including high winds, played a crucial role, upending the stage rigging and sending it all toppling down on fans below. Those in attendance said high winds were roaring through the stage grounds, signaling a storm on the horizon. An announcer even advised the crowd on evacuation routes, should it become necessary. Shortly after the collapse, the rain began, according to those in attendance.
