If Nate Dogg thought that his predicament at the East Side Motel was a strange one, a rumor flying around the Internet on Friday suggests an even crazier scenario for him Sunday at Coachella -- performing from beyond the grave, as a hologram.

Several outlets including TMZ, MTV and Vibe report that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg insisted that their old friend and ace hook-singer Nathaniel D. Hale (who passed away in Long Beach last year) needed to join them onstage one way or another for songs with Warren G and Tha Dogg Pound members Kurupt and Daz Dillinger.

So they wrangled a hologram system (similar to the one that allowed Mariah Carey to perform a concert in several venues simultaneously last year) to project moving images of Nate Dogg onto the Coachella stage while they perform.

As stagecraft goes, it sounds just spectacular enough to be kind of moving. Apparently Coachella ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none, and that includes all homies, even deceased ones.
