Cee Lo Green announces Las Vegas residency
Cee Lo Green is joining the ranks of Elton John, Celine Dion, Cher, Rod Stewart and Shania Twain. The singer-songwriter announced he’s bringing his brand of over-the-top glitz and cool to the one place big enough to house it, the Las Vegas Strip.
“The Voice” coach is preparing to set up shop for a residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, he announced on Friday.
“Loberace” is said to be “an electrifying journey” that’s “more of a spectacle than a show” -– which is just Vegas talk for magic, showgirls, flashing lights and glittery costumes intertwined with song medleys on a glossy stage.
Green -- as his conductor and ringmaster alter-ego, Loberace -- says he'll take fans through colorful decades of music, “from Prince to Blue Magic to the Rolling Stones, new wave to disco and beyond.” But we’re really hoping Green pulls out numbers from his experimental and very funk-filled back catalog, which includes three solo discs and his beloved work with Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley.
Information on ticket sales is expected to be announced at a later date. Until then, the closest thing to a Cee Lo Green Vegas spectacle is likely his Muppet-ized performance for "Forget You" at last year's Grammys, which you can relive below.
