We probably shouldn’t be surprised that any posts on Twitter with Kanye West’s name attached to them are instant fodder for the entertainment media cycle. In keeping with that tradition, several news outlets were abuzz over the rapper’s new clothing line after the Twitter handle @dwbykanye began posting tidbits that supposedly gave clues about Yeezy’s new line of threads.

However, in a series of tweets Wednesday, West posted a corrective message on Twitter saying that the Twitter handle is false and that ‘DW’ will not be the name of his clothing line. What will the real name be, you ask? Why, ‘Kanye West’ of course.

‘I really appreciate the fake DW twitter page but since it’s not official I can’t co sign any information on it,’ West Tweeted.

Recently, West sent out a widespread invite announcing the launch of his eponymous clothing line bearing the initials ‘DW,’ leading some to believe that this would be the name of the line. Today, however, West explained that the intials were only a design element added to the invite in honor of his mother, the late Donda West.

Although the false Twitter handle didn’t divulge anything that could be construed as informative about West’s new brand, it was the first news anyone had heard about the rapper’s new fashion venture since October. Currently, the fake page has more than 1,900 followers. We’ll see how long that lasts.
