Blues singer Etta James has been hospitalized after experiencing difficulty breathing, said her manager, Lupe de Leon, on Friday.

According to De Leon, the terminally ill James was taken to a hospital in Southern California on Wednesday and is now on a breathing apparatus. De Leon, who has been James’ manager for 30 years, reportedly referred to the singer as being “in pretty bad shape.”

James’ family is with her at the hospital, and it’s still undetermined whether she will be able to be released.

The “At Last” singer has been diagnosed with terminal leukemia, James’ doctor said recently. The Grammy-winner and Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame member is also suffering from dementia and had been receiving at-home care.

James has battled sepsis brought on by a urinary tract infection; she was hospitalized for the same thing in January 2010 and in May of this year.
