With healthcare costs spiraling higher and higher each year, there are few things more warmly welcomed than free medicine -- especially when Madlib is the primary care physician. Of course, his prescriptions are likely to be the strain of medicinal herbs endorsed by Cypress Hill, but the music in his 12-volume Medicine Show series is sure to cure those suffering from a variety of afflictions.

Ranging from cool jazz to smoky reggae mixes to obscure Brazilian gems, raw boom-bap and remixes, the Medicine Show series displays the dizzying versatility of the self-proclaimed Beat Konducta. Accordingly, Stones Throw is in the midst of dropping boxes full of Madlib CDs on random street corners in honor of the new mini-tour that the producer born Otis Jackson Jr. will embark on soon. Check the Stones Throw Twitter feed for more details on how to snare one of the boxes.

Should you not be one of the lucky recipients of the Atocha-esque treasure, you can still catch Madlib and J Rocc in action at three spots over the next two months. They will be playing City Hall in Denver on Nov. 12, Mighty in San Francisco on Nov. 18 and at the Echoplex in Echo Park on Dec. 10.

Unfortunately, you will have to bring your own medicine -- but this is California, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
