John West, the Third Street Promenade performer we profiled earlier this year, premiered the music video for ‘Lovely,’ the first single taken from his as-yet-untitled label debut Thursday.

For the last four years, West has been a force on the promenade, where he’s fine-tuned his brand of acoustic/urban alternative pop that suggests Justin Timberlake and Jack Johnson. After selling more than 35,000 copies of three independently released EPs, he caught the attention of Mercury/Island Def Jam, where he inked a record deal.

‘Lovely,’ a promenade favorite, got a facelift from producer Christian Rich. The syrupy ode to love is part of a three-song bundle the singer recently released to tease the album.

West is on the road supporting Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, with a stop in San Diego on Thursday.
