Adele cancels rest of North American tour, including L.A., due to laryngitis

AdeleBritish singer Adele, whose “21” album has spent nine weeks in the No. 1 slot on the national sales chart, has had to cancel the rest of her North American tour, including her scheduled appearances Monday at the Greek Theatre and Thursday at the Hollywood Palladium, citing “ongoing illness.”

The 23-year-old singer is suffering from laryngitis and was ordered by doctors to “absolute voice rest” until she fully recovers, according to a statement issued Friday by her label, Columbia Records.

She had recently canceled five shows because of voice problems and had planned to resume the tour Saturday in San Francisco. An examination by an otolarynologist in Los Angeles determined she should continue to rest for several more weeks, forcing the cancellation of at least nine more stops on her current trek stateside.

"I'm really frustrated,” the singer said in the statement. “I was hoping with a week’s rest I'd be better to sing again straight away. However, there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor’s advice and rest some more. I'm so sorry. See you soon."

After her snottiness concerningt Palin, who was gracious enough to ask to meet her, I really will never care how many concerts she completes or cancels.

@Huladeb Gracious?? Puh-leese! Palin was trying to do what she always does. Grab as much limelight as she can to elevate herself. Kudos to Adele for seeing right through her and brushing her off. I'm sure she won't miss you or any other brain-dead Palin acolytes at her concerts.

@Huladeb- while I'm sure Adele is heartbroken over your sanctimonious attitude, I congratulate her on turning down Sarah's "gracious" offer. Perhaps Adele believes that stupidity of that level might be catching. It sure seems to have infected you.

Huladeb - are you serious? "Palin, who was gracious enough" - don't you mean Palin, who continues to burn out her 15 minutes, tried to meet the singer and was rebuffed. Go figure. Like Art wrote, I am sure Adele is just heartbroken that you are not her biggest fan. So lame!

Maybe Adele wouldn't routinely suffer from respiratory problems if she didn't smoke a pack a day. Not a smart thing for a singer to do!
