Hard rock act the Melvins and former teen-pop act Hanson are among the acts slated to appear at the the Sunset Junction street festival. A partial list of artists performing at the Aug. 27-28 event was unveiled via the fest’s website, and includes the regular mix of indie rock, R&B and DJ acts.

Sludge metal messiahs the Melvins will be giving fans another chance to check them out following their January residency at the Satellite. The bill also features the kin-tight indie pop of Belle Brigade and the raw soul of Charles Bradley, the 63-year-old former James Brown impersonator who’s taken his rightful place as a soul impresario. Another slice of true American soul lies in the voices of the Ladies of Motown (featuring former chart toppers Kim Weston, Brenda Holloway and the Vandellas).

The additions of Art Brut and Art vs. Science are a few key foreign indie rock imports, and they’ll play alongside local favorites such as the Growlers and Lady Danville. Those with more glowstick-wielding tastes can look to DJ sets from Peaches, Morgan Page, Lazr Tag and Trent Cantrelle, to name a few.

All told, about 24 artists were announced by the festival, produced by Silver Lake business owner Michael McKinley. So far the bill is devoid of any hip-hop or reggae but no word on whether that will change.Tickets go on sale May 14 and will be available for $15 online and $20 when purchased at the gates.
