L.A. Unheard: Milo Greene head back to '1957'
Editor's note: Every week, our colleagues at Brand X’s L.A. Unheard column unearth one of L.A.’s best undiscovered acts.
The band: Milo Greene, an L.A. quintet that built its sound during sessions near the Santa Barbara mountains.
The sound: On the pair of tracks the band's released thus far, it embraces the kind of wide-screen acoustic rock sound that we've heard in one form or another from local acts ranging from Lord Huron to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. "Don't You Give Up on Me" is led by clean lead guitars and rough-hewn vocals; a gold-buttoned blazer over a chambray shirt. "1957" skews more rustic, offering Southern-accented male-female harmonies and a chorus big enough for its own Stagecoach headlining slot.
The details: Milo Greene joins Lord Huron and the Union Line at the Troubadour on Saturday, with a 7-inch release planned for the summer.
