This post has been corrected. See note at the bottom for details.

Police have yet to find a motive in the fatal shooting of Cali Swag District's M-Bone, according to The Times' news blog L.A. Now.

M-Bone, born Montae Ray Talbert, 22, was shot twice in the head Sunday night in the 400 block of North La Brea Avenue while seated in the driver's side of a black car, said Lt. Steve Overly of the Inglewood Police Department. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

C-Smoove, a member of the group, tweeted, “Ma life changed drastically in the. Blink of an eye rip mbone.”

Cali Swag District's hit, “Teach Me How to Dougie,” was the center of a national dance craze that even had First Lady Michelle Obama moving; The Times profiled the group in March.

Cali Swag District had planned on releasing its debut album, "The Kickback," in May.

[For the record, 4:11 p.m. May 16: An earlier version of this post misspelled M-Bone's birth name. It is spelled Montae Ray Talbert.]

R.i.p.:* You Will be missed

Blown Out: By D. May 16, 2011
To die so young
when life had just begun
is a travesty
Only our Lord and magisty
can rectify the devistation
by transforming our hateful nation
from jealous
depravity
Bringing Unity
to Humanity

In the end the only thing that matters
will be houw you were frozen in time
Young forever on the covers soon in tatters
An "oldie' on the shelf in your prime.

Every word is now gold
in mint condition once so bold
A dead artist means a million sold
But your mama would rather you'd of grown old.

Another candle in the wind,
as the angels tally up your sins
Just remember what you did right
and go quietly into that good night.

it's so sad when our young men try to better themselfs through their talents, still have to suffer at the hands of some of thoses, ...who still have so little vaual on life of another human. not to mentions how many lives it ruin if more then the persons is involved in the crimes. these days four of five person, not only took the life of someone elses child, which is horriable and painful for that person family, but their family member also endur the pain of one second stupid mistake they decided to make ruin their lives as well. what's really sad is so of the parents already knows about what going on!....shamed on them!...if they continue to allow such behavior, then they should prepare themself for the loss of their child and be prepare to shed the tears...

Just because a rapper says crazy things in their music doesn't mean thats the kind of life they are living. Music just like movies are a form of entertainment. It's up to you to decide what you take from it. M-Bone will be missed and truly remembered. My prayers goes out to his family. http://bit.ly/ksMcF2

(Life & Death) Those who reach the top are hated and revered all at once. I believe this young man's killing was no random act. Gov. Brown, "jealousy should be a grade "A" felony". Beat the "mean streets", tell your son or daughter you love them, hug them and protect them. This was someone's child. 22 years of life & love got him to fame. In the blink of an eye he's gone and the blink of an eye- a tear will fall. It's a continuing tragedy played out everyday under God's sky and the lights of any city, U.S.A.

im sorry for your loss and who ever did kill him should get death penalty or should never get out of jail until he deserve there time in jail and also he had to died like this he is to young to die and only our lord and magisty can rectify the devistation by transforming our hateful nation form jealous depravity. BRINGING UNITY TO HUNMANITY

Wazzzzzzzzzzup diz Lala from MS,,,,,,,,, Juss wanted to say I'm sorry fa da passing of ur beloved brotha group member and dear friend... R.I.P. M Bone
