A look at Times coverage of the massive Exposition Park dance event.

• Electric Daisy Carnival draws 185,000 for electronic music and good vibes: Attendees say the festival at the Coliseum and Exposition Park, with music from such DJs as will.i.am., Kaskade and Deadmau5, has an atmosphere of "world peace."

• More than 100 taken to hospitals during Electric Daisy Carnival: The two-day electronic music festival drew 185,000. Officials say 226 people suffered injuries, 114 of whom went to hospitals. Extent of injuries was not known.

Earlier coverage:

Kaskade spins with electronica into the mainstream: The DJ (well, he's more than that), performing at Electric Daisy Carnival in L.A. this weekend, knows how to make Vegas, and his music, move.

• Dance music grooves to the fore: A scene that started in illegal warehouse parties in the '90s is taking over airwaves, stadiums and public parks this summer.

• Will.i.am on rave culture: "The underground is bigger than the surface. That's what people don't understand."

226 people suffered injuries, 114 went to hospitals - out of how many? 185,ooo. I'm thinking that has to be less than a percent- which is nothing. Don't let such a small percent ruin it for the rest of us. The death that occurred is obviously tragic and my deepest condolensces to her family and to be honest with all the drugs there I'm surprised there weren't more deaths. Life is priceless - based on her tragedy alone I could understand the possible closing; nevertheless, I think that everyone who is surrounded by drugs understands the potential dangers involved.

I personally think that this isn't the fault of the event itself but rather the attendees. I mean hopping over fences WITHOUT a ticket, trampling to try and enter for free, and overdosing is from the stupidity of the people. NOT the event. It shouldn't be cancelled for the rest of the 184,600 just because of them. My deepest condolences goes out to the family of the girl but you have to admit, the event didn't FORCE her to take drugs. She CHOSE to. Just like the people who CHOSE to not buy a ticket and cause the injuries. Don't ban the event. It's the (non ticket-holding) attendee's fault for all the chaos.

This event should be ban as the organizer and security have fail in crowd control. On top of that, why are under age 16 years old were allow into these events. Most of these teeners are out of control and will not obey rules. I love to party and had been there and done that. GREED IS THE DOWNFALL OF THIS STUPIDITY!

First of all, learn how to type in correct english please. Second of all, i completely agree with Eric and Will. At EDC 08, 27 people were pronounced dead by midnight and it was a one day event from 4 PM to 4 AM. This year it was 2 days, it was 185,000 people, and ONE girl died. That is a crazy statistic. All the people that got hurt, got hurt because they CHOSE to hop fences when they weren't supposed to. They shut down the colliseum floor because it was too full, and the ignorant people still thought they could just jump down there and be fine. They got hurt because they did wrong, they suffered the consequences. As for the girl that died, my deepest condolences as well, but they said she got "slipped" drugs in her drink... I don't think so. I'm sure she willingly ingested ecstasy, was on the colliseum floor for way too long, got dehydrated, passed out, and was possibly trampled by the overcrowding from fence hopping.

Just because this year's EDC was on the news, people decide to notice and take action NOW?! Raves have been going on since the late 80's. People die every weekend from drug use.

I think if anything, the event should be 18 and up. They should check for valid ID's at the gate. Have better security and possibly barbed wire fences. Who is gonna hop a barbed wire fence? Not even people on drugs would attempt that...

The LA Times' coverage of this event has been very biased against raves. I've seen more than 100 people on Facebook saying "best night of my life" about EDC. I think that's newsworthy but not mentioned. Click on my name above this post to check out the conversations on the new rave & massive advocacy page on Facebook.

This is ridiculous. Chirus, i'm sorry but just because you dont like the music doesn't mean that other people don't believe it's real. you havn't looked into the music that much i'm sure and some of it can be beautiful. You actually have to be talented to make music such as this but how would you know. you've never tried it... so you have no idea the type of respect that some of these people have for the music. I'm sorry that a girl died. My heart truly goes out to her family and every life she has touched. But she killed herself. The people who put the event together weren't shoving drugs down her throat, she was willingly doing that to herself. I also went to the event completely sober and it was remarkable. I think that just because you dont like the music doesnt give you the right to insult everyone who goes. And i believe that if "THEY" want to shut down raves, then they should shut down every concert known to man kind. because NO MATTER WHAT at ANY concert you attend there will be people there who take drugs. There have been people who have died at rock concerts, rap concerts, any kind of concert, it doesnt matter, people have died at all of them. So why would you target raves. If you take them away then There will be so many people who will never be able to respect and take in that music live ever again. People who listen to strictly techno, like me. Once again i feel horrible about the girl who died. but she chose to go to the event and take drugs. Obviously the event was prepared and did everything in their power to prevent the worst from happening. but do you expect them to just guess and be completely right about how many officials they would need. No one can be psychic like that. If you want to criticise anything about the electric daisy carnival you couldn't. If you want to blame anyone! blame that girl. at 15 she is still old enough to know right from wrong. If she was responsible enough to purchase an edc ticket, responsible enough to purchase drugs, and responsible enough to take them. then she and any one else that age is responsible enough to recognize the outcome. i believe this is simply a learning experience. But if you want to blame anyone about this girls death... then simply blame her because she intoxicated her body, and she died because of it. simple as that.

I fell that the security should be a little more strict on ages. MAKE EDC 18++++++++

I live in dallas tx and attend the dallas edc. i do not feel the event its self is to blame here because we had no problems like this here in dallas and neither did any of the other edc events. i feel that the stupid people who chose to take the drugs and hop the fence have no one to blame but their selfs.
