Expect beats and Brie, or something similar, Saturday night at the opening of ‘Double Knock Out,’ an exhibition from French-raised, Hong Kong-based artist and frequent Brainfeeder collaborator Charles Munka, better known as QUES. Fans of the beat scene centered around the Low End Theory are likely familiar with Munka’s vivid amalgamations of pop art, graffiti, video game imagery and abstract expressionism, as his live art performances are staples at Brainfeeder events.

The opening will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the HVW8 Art + Design Gallery, and the exhibition runs until June 6. It marks Munka’s first American exhibition, following a recent showing in Kanazawa, Japan, with Los Angeles-based producer-artist Teebs. The event will feature DJ sets from Samiyam, Ras G, Dibia$e, and Andrew Meza of BTS Radio.

In honor of the occasion, Pop & Hiss is premiering ‘WTF,’ an exclusive new track from Dibia$e, recorded for All City Records’ LA 10’ series. The ideal accompaniment to Munka’s artwork, the Watts-raised producer crafts a collage of video game keys, disembodied vocal snippets and grimy graffiti-scarred drums. It hits harder than Gouda, aged four years.
