Mea culpa: Janelle Monae at Coachella was just my wishful thinking

Readers of the Coachella coverage in the Sunday Calendar section, which has already gone to print as I write this, will see my picks for best of the Coachella fest.  Unfortunately, they'll also see an error. I enthusiastically recommended the hip-hop soul space queen Janelle Monae -- who is not playing Coachella this year. Chalk it up to my excitement about her presence on a panel I am moderating this Thursday at the Experience Music Project Pop Conference, and the excellence of the two videos she's released to promote her debut full-length, The Archandroid, coming May 18. I just have Monae on the brain these days.

I'm sorry to have steered people wrong, and apologize to the fine folks at Goldenvoice for missing the chance to write a pick for another of the outstanding artists actually playing the fest. May I suggest Charlotte Gainsbourg?
