Steven Tyler remains in Aerosmith, declares himself a 'rainbow'
The Steven Tyler vs. Joe Perry Aerosmith feud has come to an end, bringing to a close days of speculation that Aerosmith would find a new lead singer, and generating the band more headlines in two days than it has likely scored in the last three years.
Tyler joined Perry onstage Tuesday night at New York's Fillmore at the Irving Plaza, according to numerous on-scene reports. Rolling Stone writes that Tyler told fans, “I just want New York to know, I am not leaving Aerosmith. Joe Perry, you are a man of many colors. But I ... am the rainbow!”
Tyler then joined the Joe Perry Project for a rendition of Aerosmith's “Walk This Way."
The appearance came about 24 hours after Perry announced that Aerosmith was on the hunt for a new singer. "Aerosmith is positivly looking for a new singer to work with," Perry posted on Twitter, all but confirming -- at the time -- that the band had parted ways with original voice Tyler, and no doubt selling some tickets for his show Tuesday night.
“Steven quit, as far as I can tell,” Perry had earlier told the Las Vegas Sun. “I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely, or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.”
The online comments referenced by Perry are a recent Tyler interview with British magazine Classic Rock, in which the frontman discussed his previously announced solo project. Said Tyler, “I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself -- Brand Tyler.”
But breakups in rock 'n' roll are rarely permanent, and life, apparently, remains in Brand Aerosmith.

Things are going to happen in a relationship when your in a rock band for ump-teen years together. It's natural for front guys to feel like they can't breath. I love the band but if Steve or Joe quite today we the public got more than our money worth.
