American Music Awards returning to L.A. Live

September 25, 2009 |  1:29 pm

The fan-voted American Music Awards will return to L.A. Live for the 2009 edition, airing during Thanksgiving week. The show will broadcast live on Nov. 22 for those on the East Coast at 8 p.m. from the Nokia Theatre at downtown's L.A. Live complex.

Last year's AMAs featured a total of 19 performances, including the likes of Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera, Annie Lennox and Miley Cyrus, among others. This year's lineup has yet to be announced, but producers are surely pleased to know that West's Fame Kills tour with Lady Gaga currently has an off-day slated for Nov. 22.

The AMAs will mark the start of a slew of award-show happenings at L.A. Live. On Dec. 2, the Grammy Awards will announce the nominees for their 2010 show at the next door Club Nokia. Then on Jan. 31, the Grammy Awards will occur across the street at the Staples Center, a date that's (surely not coincidentally) also free on the Fame Kills tour.

Those who want to take in some award-show action will be pleased to know that the AMAs will once again be open to the public. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster, ranging from $70 to $305. There's also additional VIP packages at $900 and $1,000, but can only be purchased in groups of four or 10.
