Bat for Lashes just won't stop being chased by monsters
If you were sufficiently creeped out by the rabbit-masked biker gang in Bat for Lashes' video for "What's a Girl to Do?" -- off 2006's "Fur and Gold" -- then you should invest in a good nightlight after seeing Natasha Khan's clip for her latest single, "Daniel." This time, she's accosted by ink-black wraiths with balloon hats that administer an artfully choreographed beatdown before a "Death Proof"-style stalking atop Khan's station wagon. And, naturally, she cries glitter in response.
It's bleak and gorgeous and silly and thoroughly compliments this first single from her already-competing-for-best-of-'09 album "Two Suns." That said, if she can wrangle this many heebie-jeebies from the single, I'm petrified to see what she does with her Scott Walker duet.
