Robert Plant and Alison Krauss will perform on next week's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, sources familiar with the telecast confirm. The pair, who are up for album of the year with "Raising Sand," will join the likes of Radiohead, Coldplay, Lil Wayne and Paul McCartney, among others.

Plant and Krauss are considered by many -- including this blog -- to be the front-runners for Grammy's top prize. Plant is overdue to be recognized by Recording Academy voters. He's won only two Grammys, including one last year for his collaboration with Krauss on the "Raising Sand" single "Gone Gone Gone." Meanwhile, Krauss is one of the most beloved artists in Grammy history, with 21 statues to her name.

Plant and Krauss will perform with a band that includes "Raising Sand" producer T Bone Burnett. In a statement, Plant said, "I'm looking forward to being in Los Angeles,  but musically -- and spiritually -- I expect we'll be somewhere halfway between the Mississippi Delta and the Clinch Mountains."

"Raising Sand" has the critics on its side, having topped many a top-10 list in 2007. Additionally, it's not at risk of alienating more conservative Recording Academy voters, as Radiohead's adventurous "In Rainbows" or Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" may.

The Grammys will air live for East Coast viewers Feb. 8 on CBS. Pop & Hiss will be live-blogging the event and have reporters on the scene. Also added to the Grammy performing cast was Rihanna, according to E!.
