Is Suge Knight suing Kanye West for allegedly letting an unknown person shoot him?

Suge Knight, with accoutrements

One-time rap mogul and current victim of the credit crisis Suge Knight is now trying his hand at a new stream of revenue -- suing Kanye West, according to TMZ. The website is reporting that Knight filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 against West and others in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles to recoup losses he claims he incurred as a result of a 2005 shooting at an MTV Video Music Awards party hosted by West at Miami's Shore Club. A copy of the lawsuit posted by TMZ does not bear a date stamp to indicate an official filing yet, however.

According to the lawsuit posted on TMZ, Knight claims needed recompense from West for medical bills, transport and "damages for the loss of use and enjoyment" of a 15-carat diamond stud earring as a result of the attack. (The lawsuit also claims that the aforementioned earring is valued at $135,000.) Among the damages Knight is seeking in the suit posted by TMZ is payment for "the costs of a private plane to transport him from Florida back to Los Angeles, California" after the shooting, which beats the heck out of Medi-Vac.

Messages we left for West's publicist and Knight's attorneys for comment have not been returned, but we'll keep you posted as developments unfold. In the meantime, here's Kanye's new video for "Heartless," off his steadily leaking (and awesome) forthcoming album "808s & Heartbreak."
