Raconteurs draft Ricky Skaggs, Ashley Monroe for new single
The Raconteurs went down-home country on “Old Enough” from the group’s latest album, “Consolers of the Lonely,” but in deciding to put it out as a single, chief Raconteurs Brendan Benson and Jack White apparently felt it didn’t sound quite, well, old enough.
So they went back to the studio for what figures to be an even rootsier version that’ll be released early next month. They enlisted veteran country-bluegrass star Ricky Skaggs and rising country singer Ashley Monroe. Skaggs has posted some photos from the session at his web site. The video above is from a performance in May on "Later... With Jools Holland."
A video from the recording session premieres Dec. 2 on Yahoo's music site, the same day Amazon will have the track available for downloading. A physical single, on CD and vinyl, will be released a week later, with a bluegrassed-up version of one of the album’s other tracks, “Top Yourself.”
