People sometimes imagine the best thing about being a film critic is getting to see movies for free. Actually, the best part is getting to see movies at all.

Because film critics must see films, we make time for them in our lives no matter what else is going on. So we inevitably catch more cinema than the average viewers, including those who plan to see certain films only to find they’ve been snatched from theaters before their time.

So with the DVD world in mind, click on the gallery to the right for a list of films that never caught on, never got the traction needed to make it to the top of must-see lists. That doesn’t make them any less special or less worthy of an audience’s devotion.
