Liam Neeson and Mel Gibson probably don’t get considered for many of the same movie roles (certainly, we can’t imagine Mel as, say, Oskar Schindler). But after Gibson got tossed from ‘Hangover 2’ on Thursday amid complaints from members of the production, Neeson has been lined up to replace him in the role of an American expat tattoo artist in Thailand.

Neeson will join the movie pending the blessing of the cast and crew, Alan Nierob, who serves as publicist for both actors, said Friday.

Neeson told Variety that he was invited to take the cameo role via his ‘A-Team’ co-star Bradley Cooper, who stars in ‘Hangover 2.’ ‘I just got a call to do a one-day shoot on ‘Hangover 2’ as a tattooist in Thailand, and that’s all I know about it,’ Neeson told Daily Variety. ‘I just laughed my leg off when I saw ‘The Hangover,’ I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV.’
