Kristen Stewart: 'Breaking Dawn' will change people's minds about Bella Swan

October 18, 2010 |  7:06 pm

Getprev"Twilight" fans love to debate their favorite novel in Stephenie Meyer's bestselling vampire series. Kristen Stewart says she has her own favorite -- and it's the most explicit and intense of the bunch.

"This one's really good. This one really goes there, finally," said the actress who plays the iconic Bella Swan of "Breaking Dawn." "This one is like the forming of a family. You see everything really come to fruition because I feel like [Bella] has sort of gone through an accelerated growth period."

In November, Stewart will reprise the Bella role when she begins filming the first half of “Breaking Dawn,” the fourth movie in the “Twilight” franchise, which will be directed by Bill Condon. The story follows [spoiler alert: if you aren't familiar with "Breaking Dawn," skip to the last paragraph] Bella’s marriage to vampire Edward Cullen (Rob Pattinson), as the two finally consummate their relationship and Bella becomes pregnant.

"At this point," Stewart says, "you do accept [Bella] as a mom.”

Because their child is half-human and half-vampire, Bella’s pregnancy is riddled with complications -- all leading up to a dramatic birth scene, in which Edward tears open Bella’s stomach with his teeth to save their baby.

There has been speculation about how the graphic scene will be depicted on screen. Stewart acknowledges it's a "crazy concept," also describing werewolf Jacob's hearing "vampire teeth against vampire skin" during the childbirth scene.

Just how that will play out on screen, though, has yet to be determined. "I've seen the script," which tracks closely to the book, she says. "But it depends on how they shoot it."

Stewart, who was speaking to 24 Frames to promote her new independent drama "Welcome to the Rileys," said she thinks her "Twilight" character has been misunderstood. “Bella’s criticized sometimes for being, like, you know -- I don’t know, selfish and overly emotional and silly and frivolous and annoying and young,” said Stewart. “That’s sort of like a very judgmental way of looking at it."

I'm so in love with the entire Twilight series I simply can't ever get enough, can't wait for the forthcoming saga please keep them coming

I am soooooo excited. I can not wait to see it.

can't wait to see breaking dawn i read all the book its the best.

they messed up all the other movies so this one is gonna be just as bad as the others maybe worse

I'm looking forward to the last two installments. Hate the fact we have to wait 13 mos, plus 12more! I love this series of book. Read all 4 books within a week, then read them over for a third time. I would love if Mrs. Meyer had a follow-up on Renesmee & Jacob. That would be cool. One of my favorite chapter in Breaking Dawn, though there are many, is Isle Esme. Beautiful and simple. Leaves a lot to the imagination.

I really enjoyed Breaking Dawn. I especially liked the way Stephenie Meyer wrote a good portion of the book from Jacob's perspective...I was wondering how that will play out in the film. Any ideas?

I must admit that I did think I was insane for loving this one series of books. I've realize that it reminds me of being a teen and the brooding of first love. I think we forget those strong feelings that tend to dimmer with time. I think we all fear we lose out on a lot when responsibilities take first place. I would like to believe love could strongly exist beyond time in the human world. Maybe the fantasy is sometimes better...

Hwy Do bella Swam will become Vampire??? i been thinking the whole time and i was confused a bit

Breaking Dawn is my favorite!! I can't wait for it..I am sure it will be great judging from Eclipse! Kristen, you're awesome and I know that you'll do amazing work showing Bella's transformation!

Oh and a side note, Edward doesn't tear Bella's stomach open to save the baby. It's actually to save Bella.

Im shure it will be as boring as the rest of the movies, i am disapointed I havent seen a good work yet. I would like to beleive breaking dawn will be good but im shure it will not.

omg bella would b cool if she was prego & nessie is so cute n a baby form ov way

ok so seriously i love breakin dawn but i dont think breakin dawn the movie will be as good as the other movies because well their isnt very much action im suer excited for the wedding and the baby and her attack on jacob but theirs not much drama like in eclipse but there is the volturi who come to kill....... not bout to be a spoiler for those who havent read it but it should be goood i just hope its as good as the other lol i ♥ the twilght saga

im excited about when edward reads bellas mind and sees everything of how hey fall in love in her own eyes

hey i just want to say hey to kristen she is one of the bes in the movie i also love jacob and edward but i would love to meet you one day kristen you seem way more down to earth then alot of other stars ttyl

i am really like bella , she's being my inspirations and i do love her very much.

THAT'S IS SOOOO STUPID!!!!! "It's like the book." Yeah right......ugghh...stupid girl read the book.......

I love Breaking Dawn (the book)

This is to "el" The series are amazing and if you didn't like them so much how would you know that Breakin Dawn was the worst one???

Forget who she plays. She is just an actress. The real point is that she can act and that is it.

I like Bella in all the movies , breaking dawn was the best book of the series and i think the film is going to be great cant wait for it to come out.

That's why I love her, she knows what she says !

hi my name is adriana I love all the twilight books,I think bella rocks!I cant wait to see the movie, does it come out this year?or next year?i would like to know please thanks Adriana:)

I love this series! Breaking Dawn was such an amazing book I was actually sad when I finished it.....at least I can read all of the books over again to re-experience the love story. I can't wait until the movie comes out. Rob and Kristen really do a wonderful job portraying their characters.

Renesmee(bellas daughter) tears her stomach with her teeth, not edward.

Haven't read "Breaking Dawn" yet,but my mother has and she's driving me crazy about it.She actually wants to read it to me! My mother is 58,very intelligent woman and it just shows that this saga is enjoyed by ALL ages.Personally...Alice is my favorite, but the passion and intensity between Bella & Edward is what keeps me hanging on.Guess I'll just have to read "Breaking Dawn" over and over again 'till the movie comes out.
