The academy’s revelation of its 10 best picture nominees Tuesday morning is either dramatic or inevitable, depending on whom you believe. Or more likely, it’s both. Seven slots are pretty much assured; they’ll go to ‘Up,’ ‘Up in the Air,’ ‘Avatar,’ ‘The Hurt Locker,’ ‘Precious,’ ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and -- we’ll go out on a limb -- ‘Invictus.’ The remaining three are not. Six movies -- two huge crowd-pleasers (‘The Hangover’ and ‘The Blind Side’), two darker pictures (‘A Serious Man’ and ‘An Education’), a genre picture (‘District 9’) and a lighter film (‘Julie & Julia’) are all vying for nominations. Our own picks for the final three, push comes to shove, are ‘Blind Side,’ ‘An Education’ and ‘District 9’. We don’t vote, though. But you can. Fill out the poll below to see just how well you know the mind of the typical academy member. Then Tuesday you can gloat -- or pretend this never happened.
