Chicken -- now it’s the only white meat.

The National Pork Board has pushed aside its famous ad campaign and herded out a new official slogan: ‘Pork: Be inspired.’

Yep. That’s right. Don’t be hungry. Be inspired.

The Des Moines-based industry group, which unveiled that tasty little morsel Friday, is getting ready to throw some hefty cash behind its marketing makeover -- to the tune of more than $11 million for an advertising campaign that will include print, TV and online ads.

My favorite, though, are plans to pepper Iowa highways with billboards touting the new slogan. (It seems to me like they’re preaching to the choir, considering that the Hawkeye State is the country’s largest pork producer and home to a number of pork and meat finishing plants. But that’s just me.)

The industry’s goal: to get people who already love bacon and chops to love them more -- and bolster pork sales by 10% over the next three years.

Admittedly, the new slogan is a little ... *yawn*.

Do you think you could do better?

Post your suggestions or e-mail me with ideas. (Please keep it family friendly.) I’ll highlight the best in a blog post next week.
