Where's the Money? Small business owners can find out at expo

September 22, 2010 | 11:36 am

The Valley Economic Development Center, a San Fernando Valley community lender and small business development organization, will hold an access to capital expo in Granada Hills on Saturday.

The event will include workshops on obtaining unconventional financing and developing a business plan. There will be a "loan pavillion," where business owners can meet one-on-one with loan officers. Lenders supporting or sponsoring the day's programs include Wells Fargo Bank, a sponsor, and Citibank, California United Bank, City National Bank, Union Bank and Comerica.

The VEDC itself is also looking for qualified borrowers for several loan programs.

In a nod to the difficulty that small businesses are having obtaining capital, the half-day expo has been called Where's the Money? It will be held at Odyssey Restaurant, 15600 Odyssey Drive in Granada Hills, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Speakers include California Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes (D-Sylmar), Los Angeles Controller Wendy Greuel and Wells Fargo Bank official Marla Vasquez.
