More people than ever are starting their own businesses. But it’s hard to do. Most fail before they really get going. And research shows that most entrepreneurs are so confident in their ideas that they don’t really weigh all of the potential pitfalls.

We talked to a number of business owners about mistakes that they had made along the way. The answers were pretty interesting: a woman who didn’t realize there was no market for her product; a man who didn’t pay attention to the details of his operation until it was too late; partners who got a ton of requests for a product they hadn’t thought of providing.
