A day of waiting. Investors expect a slow and uneven day for stocks on Friday as everyone awaits the beginning of earnings season on Monday, when companies, starting with aluminum producer Alcoa Inc., will begin to reveal how they are doing. 

More questions about financial reform. Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) is the latest to raise questions about the as-yet-unpassed financial reform legislation, which is running into more trouble every day.

Blodget's risky bet. BusinessWeek profiles disgraced former stock analyst Henry Blodget, who holds out his upstart website, Business Insider, as the future of business journalism.
