Wall Street Roundup: Bad construction numbers. Goldman's consumer problem

June 16, 2010 |  7:35 am

Bad construction numbers. Housing starts and building permits declined in May more than analysts expected, according to new Commerce Department figures.

Spanish rumors. Rumors about a rescue plan for Spain -- quickly denied -- showed again how vulnerable the world economy is to concerns about European troubles.

Goldman's consumer problem. While Goldman Sachs is mostly removed from the difficulties of ordinary consumers, a mortgage division of the bank is being criticized for its treatment of troubled homeowners, the Financial Times reports.
