Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was so excited Thursday morning that he couldn’t keep quiet about a big economic development announcement he planned for the afternoon.

At a mid-morning environmental event at Google’s Mountain View headquarters in Silicon Valley, an upbeat governor said he’d be participating in an announcement Thursday afternoon that electric car maker Tesla Motors would be working with Toyota Motor Corp. to build the Tesla electric sports car in Northern California.

The announcement is scheduled for 5 p.m. and is another sign that California remains on the cutting edge of environmentally progressive manufacturing, Schwarzenegger said.
