Golf champ Fred Couples has sold his house in the Santa Barbara-area community of Montecito for $9.56 million.

The 11,000-square-foot, two-story Monterey colonial had been listed last year at $12.5 million. The main house, built in 1939, has nine bedrooms and 7 1/2 bathrooms. There is an arched front entry, a formal dining room with a beamed ceiling, and a master bedroom suite with a sitting area and office space. The 2,300-square-foot guesthouse has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen.

He bought the home in 1999 for $4 million and has moved to La Quinta, Calif.
